When I was big into modding, my biggest tool's were Notepad, and a hex editor, half the time games back then would leave files uncompressed in LUA, or someother script. I loved tinkering with level creation/editing in Skyrim, and this game just seems like the possibilities would be very exciting for all the new puzzles and levels people could make. How did people go about doing that? what will it take to do for this game? In the past, game fans would simply figure out ways to read the game files and modify them to makes their own mods. What I'm wondering is, would i be able to open, view, or even modify assets for Thief with this UDK? At some point after Skyrim came out, they released what I assume is the same software tool used to make levels for Skyrim so that the general public could make their own assets for Skyrim, like armor, weapons, and even entire levels.Ĭurrently you can download for free the Unreal Development kit which apparantly allows you to create your own game from scratch. My understanding is that Thief was developed on the Unreal Engine 3. Ok so i'm sure I will come across as very inept, noobish, and generally not smart, but I thought I'd ask anyway:
